Peak Developers is a property company specialising in the acquisition of land for residential, commercial and retail development.

Since its inception in 2000, Peak has developed in excess of £150 million of land. We have secured sites by options, conditional contracts and unconditional purchase. These sites have been developed for sale, investment, in partnership with others and under PFI arrangements.

We have access to significant funds which allows us to operate at speed and without reliance on banks and other lenders.

Peak Developers are not constrained by developing only residential land and can therefore ensure the most suitable and cost effective solutions are applied to each site and the land owner therefore achieves the best price.

The managing director and owner of Peak Developers is Shawn Kelf.

Originally from Coventry, Shawn trained as a Quantity Surveyor initially working for a large housing association. However, once seconded to the new initiatives department, he found this far more captivating.

A successful career in Housing Associations culminated with a position as Development Director and Deputy Chief Executive of Beaver Housing Society in London.

From the Housing Association sector Shawn moved to the private sector as a main board director of a large residential developer with responsibility for securing new business. He undertook significant land assembly to facilitate the delivery of clients programs and the provision of complex P.F.I projects.

In 2000 Shawn set up Peak Developers to bring together the diverse experience gained in both the Public and Private sectors initially to secure land opportunities for Housing Associations. Within 18 months Peak had grown into a large company securing land for both Public and Private sector development, privately funded student housing schemes and a number of strategic land promotions.

Now, Peak is a diverse organization. Food retail, residential and commercial development all form part of our day to day activities. However, our core activity remains complex land assemblies and challenging planning permissions.

Shawn is married with two grown-up children. He lives near Wadhurst in East Sussex. Outside of property his interests are motor racing and skiing.



We work in the built environment. What we do can have a big impact on both the visual landscape of an area and also the community who live and work there. We strive to ensure this experience is a positive one, not only by creating attractive buildings but also by embracing the communities were we work.

Initially, the construction of our developments provide local jobs for a range of individuals and subcontractors. These construction projects employ many people who spend their money locally whilst working on site.

On our bigger projects we provide training schemes and apprenticeships targeted at  local people. At present we have several food retail stores under development. Once completed, these stores will typically employ in excess of 30 people, on average 82% of these staff will walk to work, truly local jobs!

Through the construction phase and beyond Peak is  committed to ensuring the community benefit from our involvement. On a local level we support the communities where we work. Charities, sports groups, youth groups and elderly clubs have all benefited from our support.
